Raja Dalpat Singh Ji was born in S. 1621 (A.D 1564), succeeded his father Raja Rai Singh on his death. But being in disfavour with the Emperor of Delhi, troops were sent against him. The reign of Maharaja Dalpat Singh (1612 to 1614) was full of troubles and turmoils. He was the victim of conspiracy hatched by some chieftains on one side and conflict with his brother Sursingh on the otherside. Sursingh establish contacts with imperial court at Delhi and showed his unflinching loyalty to the emperor. The first imperial army was defeated by Maharaja Dalpat Singh near Chhapar but later he fell to the treachery of disloyal sardars who made him over to the enemy. He was poisoned in Ajmer, but after some time he was released by the valour of Hati Singh Champawat. There are conflicting views about the events that followed but one thing is certain that Maharaja Dalpat Singh met his end in miserable conditions far away from Bikaner. | | |
