The new king Rao Kalyan Singh was able to maintain cordial relationship with Shershah Suri. Shershah was angry with maldeos of Jodhpur and in order to punish him, he readily agreed to the request of Rao Kalyan Singh to march against Jodhpur with a huge army in 1544. Shershah a politician, was able to sow seeds of discord in the rival army and Rao Maldeo had to fall back closely followed by Shershah's forces. Jodhpur fell to invading army in 1544. Bikaner was thus restored back to Rao Kalyan Singh. When Akbar came in power, Rao Kalyan Singh met him at Nagaur and influenced the Emperor with his loyalty and sincerity. Rao Kalyan Singh died in solar part of Baisakh S. 1628 (A.D. 1571). | | |
