Maharaja Ratan Singh who was born in S. 1885 (A.D. 1728) succeeded his father Maharaja Surat Singh on Baisakh Bad 5'h S. 1885 (A.D. 1728). Immediately on his succession to the Gaddi, a dispute arose with the Bhatis of Jaisalmer, as the latter had carried off camels belonging to the Bikaner Darbar.
Important events during his reign were:
Title of Narindar Saromani Granted to the Maharaja of Bikaner: -In 1831 A.D., the Emperor of Delhi granted the title of "Narindar Saromani" to Maharaja Ratan Singh.
Jaisalmer and Bikaner Reconciled: - On Baisakh Bad 13 S. 1892 (A.D. 1855), a reconciliation was effected between the Rawal of Jaisalmer and Maharaja Ratan Singh of Bikaner.
Maharaja Ratan Singh takes oath against female infanticide:- In S. 1893 (A.D. 1836), Maharaja Ratan Singh went on pilgrimage to Benaras and Gayaji, and whilst there, bound himself by an oath to use all endeavours to put an end to the crime of female infanticide.
Boundary dispute between Bikaner and Jeypore settled:- In S. 1898 (A.D. 1841), Major Forester settled the boundary dispute between the Bikaner village of Lohsna and the Jeypore village of Chani.
In S. 1899 (about A.D. 1842), Maharaja Ratan Singh paid a visit to the Viceroy at Delhi, where His Excellency thanked the Maharaja for supplying camels to the Kabul expeditionary Force.
In S. 1902 (A.D. 1845), the disputed Bikaner Jodhpur boundary line was settled. The longstanding boundary dispute between Bahawalpur and Bikaner was at last settled in 1849 A.D. In S. 1906 (A.D. 1849), 2 British Officers finally settled the disputed boundary between the States of Bikaner, Bahawalpur, and Jaisalmer.
Death of Maharaja Ratan Singh: - Maharaja Ratan Singh died on Sawan Sud IInd S. 1908 (A.D. 1851):
